JWM: Touched III is a self portrait in which I am measuring my hand-span with a brass rod. The work problematises photographic image/object relations by means of its presentation alongside Proportion Study with Brass Rods, which incorporates the material depicted in the photograph.
Considered within the broader context of my work, one might also read it as an allusion to the pressure queer men often face in terms of ‘measuring up’ to homonormative masculinity standards, or not.
